THE LAAL KOTHI PROJECT
Lakood believes that every product deserves a serious inquiry into the design so that every detail connects to the heart of its architecture. Laal Kothi presents one such case study where the term bespoke is not just used lightly.
Every product is specifically designed to suit its unique interiors. The excitement of exploring timber through its traditional joinery techniques and its textures finds a special place as one explores the project. Love for timber, finding an expression through design makes the whole effort worthwhile for us.
LIBRARY
The library unit is a modular play tool for do-it-yourself enthusiasts. Supported by slick 22mm timber members with all-wood joinery, it can limitlessly spread through the space and goes up to 3000mm in height. The timber used is premium hardwoods and PU / oil coating. It can remain open on the sides or can be closed with glass.
DINING
The 3000 x 1200 all ash table is made of selected planks of treated timber. The table is inspired by the traditional joinery techniques in Goa which is now more prominently known through its Japanese Sashimono style. Two beams and a column snugly fit into each other without the use of any ironmongery.
